Earth Magic Poster
As noted in the lesson, the human race has an undeniable connection to the earth. This makes perfect sense, especially if one considers the Mother Earth representation of nature (an image that has always resonated particularly strong with me). In the poster, therefore, the middle image of the woman is meant to be Mother Earth. This connection starts from the moment we first are formed in the womb. You will note that the image on the far left shows a baby being cradled in the womb of the Mother, surrounded by nature. Again, the image on the right reflects that concept. Humans are reliant upon nature for their survival, and vice versa. One could not exist without the other. Mother Earth gives us the means to live, and like any good child, it is our duty to love and care for her. In the end, we are all (Spirit, human, and nature) connected. And that is the message I tried to convey.

It's a collage about how we connect with the earth (through seasons, through meditating, through contact with animals, the seasons...), I added also the moon phases because that's a really common and used earth magic nowadays.

The biggest takeaway I had from the lesson was connectedness. As such, I tried to make my poster represent that theme as much as possible. At the very center, we have an interpretation of Mother Nature, the animals relaxing peacefully with her and with each other. Around that, I have hands connected in a circle. Circles are a sign of unbreakable union so I thought that was the best gesture. Plus I believe by caring for the earth, you also help your fellow man, which is why all the hands are holding each other. Finally, just to demonstrate the example you gave of how to connect to the earth, I have a nature scene surrounding that. When I think of earth, I tend to think of forests and green growing things, which is why I picked that example of nature. Plus the sunlight showing through is always a sign of hope of better things to come. And with all things coming together, I think it's a good representation of connectedness. Everything is connected and no one element of the picture is stronger than the other, but instead is in harmony with each other.

This poster isn't hard to explain. I have my slogan at the top. It's almost an advertisement of sorts encouraging people to connect with the Earth and such. 'Let Mother Nature take care of it' refers to the part in your lesson where you mention the signs nature gives us. I mention going back to your roots because remember where you said we were all made out of the stuff of stars? Nature is our roots, and we need to go back to simplicity and nature and connect with it and all of that stuff.

I think this is the best representation of connection to Earth and its magic. Not just walking on earth, but gardening, help it grow, actually get down and dirty. I also included my slogan for Earth Magic, which can be found lower.

In Avatar: The Last Airbender the swamp guy says it all. He seems to me to be talking about the link that spirit affords all living things on this Earth. I liked that you mentioned the subtle signs and so I included the hummingbird tasting of the Silk Oak as a reminder not to forget the simple things. In honor of recapturing “...that sense of wonder and enchantment with the world.” I saw the girl barefoot in an emotive commune with Earth and Sky as one; and the fellow at the bottom in a sage like moment caught between the words of wisdom and the weight of the ladies emotion.

I've combined several elements to create the background. The prominent ones should be the forest, the darkness of the eternal Earth but also the shiny lights that represent the hope and life said eternal Earth provides. The text is in green to once again reflect on nature and Earth. The text itself summarizes in a few short sentences the basics from the lesson on Earth Magic.

Ode to Mother Earth
Ooo Mother Earth
You give us food
You give us shelter
You treat us as your children
Ooo Mother Earth
You watch us make mistakes
You watch us destroy many things
You have lots of patience with us
Ooo Mother Earth
You can only be understanding for so long
You will snap one day
You will be terrible in your wrath

She is always there to comfort me, to tell me it’s alright.
She always greets me in the morning and kisses me goodnight.
She provides me with everything I need.
She feeds me, shelters me, and excuses all my greed.
She absorbs my sorrows deep within her heart.
She absorbs my joy and reminds me that we’ll never part.
She gives me strength, inspiration, and peace of mind.
She is selfless and her kindness stretches to all mankind.
She guides my life and will teach me everything I know.
And when I die she’ll take me in her arms and never let me go.

Oh, Mother Earth; Goddess of Land and Sea!
bring about the sun and set us free!
School kept us busy during the cold winter day,
but bring on summer because we want to play!
We toiled along in Charms and Potions,
now it's time for sand and suntan lotions!
Mother Earth let your flowers bloom,
brighten the earth as we leave the divination room!
We long to see your beauty on the grounds,
opening a window to hear the birds' sounds!

Mother, my mother, I hear your cries.
I hear you weep for your children's carelessness.
We owe you so much, but give so little.
Ungrateful offspring that we are, we so quickly forget.
We forget your bounty, freely given.
We forget that we were formed from you
And that in the end, we will return to you once more.
You are our very soul, and yet we choose not to remember.
The rivers, forests, mountains, and fauna are gifts freely given.
They refresh us, feed us, and act as balm to weary souls.
Like any good mother, you provide for your children, even
When they are so undeserving of your loving care.
Mother, my mother, I seek your forgiveness.
Accept my feeble attempts to right the wrong done to you.
Fill me with your energy, quench my soul with your beauty.
And know, dearest Mother, that your cries do not go unheeded.
Your child is listening.

Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall.
I love them all.
Spring brings new flowers.
That can give us different powers.
Summer brings heat.
With temperatures you just can’t beat.
Fall brings us school.
Ain’t that just cool?
Winter brings us snow.
Just be carefully driving or you’ll need a tow.

Each one of us is born alone,
But there’s the Earth we call our home.
It’s all around us, close to view.
We all can see and feel it too!
We all connect with Mother Earth

And when we strive to find our way,

We say Mother Earth
like it's a gentle thing
a soft delicate woman
carved from leaves.
We say Mother Earth
and ignore her calls
We don't do as she bids
After all, what can she do?
We say Mother Earth
with terror and awe
and Storms rage across her skin
our homes destroyed.
We say Mother Earth
and forget Mothers are survivors.
We say we're her children
while we wreck her
and ignore her.
Mother earth, our mother
belives spare the rod
and the child will spoil
And no garden grew with spoiled fruit.

The warm sun shining
Warmth driving away the cold
Warm sun on cold skin
The flowers blooming
An explosion of colour
Lining the sidewalk
The songbirds chirping
Music instruments can't play
Sounds to please the ear
The rain drizzling
Leaving the earth smelling
Like fresh grass and dirt
The garden growing
Leaving tasty vegetables
Just for us to eat
The springtime coming
Foretold by sight sound taste smell touch
All shall welcome her

Life, small and tiny,
easily crushed or destroyed,
but not everything.
Mighty trees and seas,
ancient mountains, hills, oceans,
old as Mother Earth.
She is all, but one,
she is of great age, but young,
wonderful and cruel.
To her, love and joy,
not pollution or oil.
For infinity.

Pulled and scratched and screamed at
Endless and relentless torment
Toddler-terrorists grabbing at their mother
Shoving at their siblings
Putting their hands on the stove
Never realising the harm caused
To themselves, to their loving brothers and sisters
To their ever-present, ever-nurturing mother.
She is so patient, as homo sapiens runs rampant
Silly children disobeying as she waits
For her consequences lie in wait for bad offspring
And they are more to be feared than a lump of coal.

I too will be
always.

The sun goes down, the days are getting

Get softer, cozier.

Smolders to the ground,
Curling into crunchy ashes.

Small and dense,
A baby fortress
Hoping for treehood.

On its way to

Further down the road.

I've ran away a thousand times,
ran right into your arms.
The one place I feel happy and free,
I've been won over by your charms.
The chirping that your children make.
Your breathe between the leaves.
The colors of your sunsets,
that are shining through the trees.
Your scents, your sounds, your sights,
I enjoy them all I can.
Though we've damaged you greatly,
you're still there to hold our hands.
You are my home,
you have been here since my birth.
You are a home to everyone,
my mother, and my earth.

Nature has an incomparable beauty,
And to appreciate it is our duty.
What it has to teach us,
Is something we must discuss.

I thank you for indulging me in your treat.

How stable and how sound you stand
In roots and dirt and grass and leaves
Strong and powerful, yet calm and kind
With how you give oxygen to the trees
You are more than the ground we tread upon
I see you in the sky when the clouds turn gray
I see you when the winds get rough
When all your branches move and sway
There are times when you start to shake
In the tumbles of an earthquake
Afterwards all is quiet and free
We thank you for sharing your beauty

Daylight quickening to motion the life that springs forth each year
to explain this mystery which runs rampant in the dark for which there can be no fear;
Great Mother Earth nurture me with understanding, I yearn to see
To touch the motions of life with steadied mind and stable hands
Run free and breathe the divine nectar of your sweet breeze
Climb through the troubles in the streets to touch the streams that shape your lands
And find myself grown to be such a man,
each time I ascend the next step along this winding mountain trail
each time I face down my fears and break free of the urge to fail
And here upon the path in your arms at last, to understand the everlasting
An everlasting luv I see at last.

Sun and moon, night and day go by,
And even time decides it must fly,
But one thing remains as strong as ever,
This piece of Earth welcoming us forever.
This Earth gives us life and gives us strength,
It is what keeps our lifespan at length,
Like a mother constantly taking care of its child,
It keeps all beings alive, vivid and running wild.
We have learned this over and over again,
Yet as time goes by it seems it was all in vain,
But we must not let our negativity prevail,
And our own mother Earth we cannot fail.
